Artist Statement: This art show has led me to think about all the new beginnings I had in the past year, and one of the things that sticks out the most to me is thriving in a position as an elementary school art teacher. It leads me to ask myself questions such as "Why did I love art as a kid?" or "What things in my childhood shaped me to be the artist I am today?" Carefully cultivated and curated, "Delicate" is a collection of things that stick in my mind that built me up to who I am today: tea parties and Russian folk art from my grandmothers, birds and ladybugs from my backyard, or hunting for tiny flowers that might house a fairy.
